Bob says: “I have had this article folded in my cruise book for thirty years and have not sent it to the Rosie site as it’s a rather sad one. My father sent it to me after seeing it in the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Parade insert. After recently perusing your site I saw the photo captioned “Rosie’s Last Photo” and went to check the article’s date. This actually may be the really last photo of the ship and I thought you might find it and the article of interest. For my own part, I was on the “extended” Med cruise of ’72 where one of the sayings was “Christmas day in Suda Bay ” although we made it home just before that became a reality. Also, I remember that we caught a fish inside the ship on the 02 level during the Bay of Biscay storm. Saw Phil Dyer’s photos and, as I knew him, it brought back some memories, especially all the water brake jobs we had to do.”
I have taken the liberty to “flip” the inset photo of Rosie underway as it appeared incorrectly reversed in the original article. LarryB.
