HAVE YOU CHECKED THE HOME PAGE FOR THE LATEST INFO?

I have managed to resurrect some of the Guest Books from the previous FDR Websites. There are some that are lost forever but this is the best there is at the moment. There is a lot of good stuff there.

Click on the year you want to view. Click on the left arrow at the top of your browser to return to this page.

MISUSE OF INFORMATION CONTAINED HEREIN COULD BE AN INVASION OF PRIVACY!

Sign in using the comment form at the bottom of the page and please leave a valid email address. It will NOT be viewable to visitors! If you want to hear from your shipmates leave your email address IN THE MESSAGE ALSO.

SO

Please put your email address in your message so your shipmates can get back to you (if they can remember you).

There is software on board that makes it unreadable to the “bots” who collect that sort of stuff.

All entries must be approved before they will appear in the book. Any inappropriate entries, as well as those with invalid email addresses, will be deleted and will not appear. I check daily so don’t despair if your entry doesn’t appear immediately.

Due to a rash of automated spam messages we now use “captcha” authentication.  Just enter the “captcha” code and then SUBMIT. Don’t worry about upper or lower case….either will work. If you have trouble reading it just click the little button to the right and it will “refresh”. Thanks!

Many shipmates have told me, via email, about having visited this site. Oddly many have not left entries here for their shipmates to see. THEY do wonder how you are and probably would love to hear from you. This is a great way get back in contact.

REMEMBER….THE ONLY  WAY FOR YOUR SHIPMATES TO GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU IS HAVING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR MESSAGE

For YOUR protection – No home phone numbers or addresses please. Please save that for when you make email contact.

REMEMBER….IF YOU WANT TO BE CONTACTED MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE BODY OF YOUR MESSAGE

  2. Ditched an EA-1f off the FDR September 10 , 1966 off Cape Mui ron.
Please note I erroneously the date as June 20, 1966- which is the date I survived a cold catapault shot off CVA-19, Hancock.

  3. spent time aboard the
    FDR in June .66.
Had engine failure on a mission flying in a VAW-13 EA-1F and ditched off Cape Mui Ron North Viet Nam June 20, 1966. All the crew were rescued by an Air Force Hu-16 amphibian and flown to Danang. The FDR’s COD retrieved us back to the FDR mid day. remember seeing lots of snakes in the water.

  6. Hello Fellow Rosie-ites! I was stationed aboard Rosie for the Last Cruise 1976-77. I was a Mess Specialist working the fore and aft galleys. Looking back, I surely miss those times and my shipmates like J.J. Wilson, Dave Marsh, Dave Elias and the rest of you mugs. I recently launched a website for my company of 5 years called America’s Outpost @ http://www.americasoutpost.com where I sell merchandise that Honors and Commemorates America’s Armed Forces, Veterans, Heroes, and Patriots! Check it out if you get the chance and email me from the website to let me know you were there. God bless you all and God bless America!

  7. Nice to see the site.
Stationed from April 73 to July 1976, Weapons Department, AM Division, I am now living in the Philadelphia area.

  8. FROM: Will McManus
    Shipmates,
I recently received the sad news that one of our fellow shipmates passed away.
Bob Swanson, Veteran Valion AE 1969 – 1970, retired and resided in Staten Island New York, his hometown, and his enlistment site into the US Naval reserve. Bob joined VA-15 in 1969 and served on our 1970 Med cruise. Bob was very proud of his service to our country, the Navy, and VA-15.
He was a wonderful man, a true Valion and will be greatly missed.

  9. Still looking for any info at all on John Walsh 5th Division 1966-67.
    Thanks, Gerry Rempel Canada.

His lives in North Carolinia and I hope he will be at the 2012 FDR Reunion to be held in Virginia Beach, VA in May 2012. If you have the time please e-mail him. Ed Tucker

  16. I was a member of the HU-2 Helo Detachment on the ’64 Med Cruise. I was the only African-American Helo Rescueman that flew rescue missions. My Nickname was “Sweet Pea” because of my “abreviated” stature but if you remember me you’ll remember that I had a BiG Heart… P. S.
