HAVE YOU CHECKED THE HOME PAGE FOR THE LATEST INFO?

I have managed to resurrect some of the Guest Books from the previous FDR Websites. There are some that are lost forever but this is the best there is at the moment. There is a lot of good stuff there.

Click on the year you want to view. Click on the left arrow at the top of your browser to return to this page.

SO

Please put your email address in your message so your shipmates can get back to you (if they can remember you).

There is software on board that makes it unreadable to the “bots” who collect that sort of stuff.

All entries must be approved before they will appear in the book. Any inappropriate entries, as well as those with invalid email addresses, will be deleted and will not appear. I check daily so don’t despair if your entry doesn’t appear immediately.

Due to a rash of automated spam messages we now use “captcha” authentication.  Just enter the “captcha” code and then SUBMIT. Don’t worry about upper or lower case….either will work. If you have trouble reading it just click the little button to the right and it will “refresh”. Thanks!

Many shipmates have told me, via email, about having visited this site. Oddly many have not left entries here for their shipmates to see. THEY do wonder how you are and probably would love to hear from you. This is a great way get back in contact.

REMEMBER….THE ONLY  WAY FOR YOUR SHIPMATES TO GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU IS HAVING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR MESSAGE

For YOUR protection – No home phone numbers or addresses please. Please save that for when you make email contact.

REMEMBER….IF YOU WANT TO BE CONTACTED MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE BODY OF YOUR MESSAGE

  7. I served on the Rosie 66-68, B division. Great ship and shipmates. Lt. Clark was the finest officer a sailor could have. He saved my butt a couple of times. Some of you guys might remember me swinging up on the fantail from that tug at Norfolk when I just missed the ship pulling away for the Med Cruise. By the way, thanks to all you guys that dropped that chain down to me and helped pull me up. Like I said, Great shipmates! Didn’t get to thank all of you because that MA was writing me up for improper boarding or something. Lt. Clark took care of that though. Loved those six on and six off. Lots of hard work but many great liberty ports made it worth every hour of lost sleep. Love to do it again. (if I was still tough enough) Great ship and many fine memories. Like to find Vic Tabarez and many other shipmates. My best to all you Rosie vets.

  8. I was onboard Jan 1966 to Nov 1967. Was first a yeoman in the Ops office then went on to Strike Ops prior to our WestPac Cruise. Left the Rosie in the Med, first to Sigonella NAS on Sicily then on to Rota Spain before flying back to the States and the Brooklyn Navy Shipyard.
Had the pleasure of returning to Sigonella this past spring to visit my daughter, grandsons and my son in law, a EOD Chief. They have now relocated to Rota with the rest of EOD from Sicily and it will be my pleasure to visit Rota this spring. Just kind of funny how things work out.
Would like to hear from any prior shipmates.

My DAD served in the U.S. NAVY from 1956-1960 (MED CRUISE). I found this website and was able to share it with him over a cup of hot coffee! He really enjoyed it! I got to hear of several good stories. (some I have heard a 1,000 times) Unfortunately my DAD passed away much too soon on Sept. 9th, 2010. I’m grateful I had the opportunity to share this site with him – THANK YOU & GOD BLESS AMERICA! – DAD LOVED THE F.D.R. – *THANK YOU ALL FOR THE FREEDOM WE KNOW TODAY*
