HAVE YOU CHECKED THE HOME PAGE FOR THE LATEST INFO?
I have managed to resurrect some of the Guest Books from the previous FDR Websites. There are some that are lost forever but this is the best there is at the moment. There is a lot of good stuff there.

SO
Please put your email address in your message so your shipmates can get back to you (if they can remember you).
There is software on board that makes it unreadable to the “bots” who collect that sort of stuff.
All entries must be approved before they will appear in the book. Any inappropriate entries, as well as those with invalid email addresses, will be deleted and will not appear. I check daily so don’t despair if your entry doesn’t appear immediately.
Due to a rash of automated spam messages we now use “captcha” authentication. Just enter the “captcha” code and then SUBMIT. Don’t worry about upper or lower case….either will work. If you have trouble reading it just click the little button to the right and it will “refresh”. Thanks!
Many shipmates have told me, via email, about having visited this site. Oddly many have not left entries here for their shipmates to see. THEY do wonder how you are and probably would love to hear from you. This is a great way get back in contact.
REMEMBER….THE ONLY WAY FOR YOUR SHIPMATES TO GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU IS HAVING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR MESSAGE

Served aboard FDR July 9, 1957 thru March 5, 1958 Special Weapons Unit (SWULANT)
Just received and veiwed the Med. Cruise Video 57/58 which I was on. A teriffic video which really brought back fond memories. I was in “W” Division which was not really ships company but was assigned out of NAS Norfolk for the length of the cruise. Nevertheless we all thought of ourselves as part of the crew and had lots of good times with many of them. Especially the Marine detachment since they guarded our spaces 24/7. A great experience which you portrayed very well in your video.
Keep up the good work as I believe that everyone associated with FDR would be pleased to see their cruise represented. A GREAT JOB !!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the site. Brought back a lot of old memories. Reported on board (H Div.) just in time for the ’59 Med cruise.

My Uncle, James L. Deal, served on the USS Roosevelt during 1966-67 and passed away on 14 Sep 09 in Samson, Alabama. He and my husband (a retired AF pilot) talked many hours about flying and I have enjoyed looking at pictures taken during his time on the Roosevelt. Uncle Jim did not want any services and as a good military wife abided by those wishes. Soar high Uncle Jim and God Bless!
I served aboard the FDR from 1971 to 1973, OI Div, CIC, Radarman. I made two med cruises and then transferred to the Coral Sea until 1974. I left the ship in Naples and lost my sea bag with all my stuff enroute (thanks to the air force) The only memorabilia I have is my FDR patch. I’d love to hear from any of the old CIC crew.

I served on the FDR from 1973-1975 in deck division. I would like to hear from Billy Langlas(Topo), Steve Menard, Johnny Reams, and that crazy skinny mexican we all loved so much who went by the name (Key) and any one else that I cant remember.
I too remember the hurricanes we were in. That was pretty bad and I remember a couple guys came home in the cooler. Bless their Hearts, they gave so much and will not be forgotten.
I just recently recieved an email from an old shipmate and was excited to hear that there is a website dedicated to the RUSTY ROSIE CVA-42 . I would love to find all those great guys that I used to have so much fun with. those were the good ole days.
My son and I always watch documentaries on ships and I always wondered why they never did one on the Roosevelt, Untill recently there was a special Documentary on the History channel about the FDR-CVA-42 when It had major problems with USO’S (under water sumeged objects) comming right out of the water and they determined it was because the Rosie was one of the first ships to carry Nuclear Arms. These were basiclly UFO’S that are under water, for some reason!
If Any of my old buddies remember me, please write. Dont be a stranger, after all you’ve been one for 30 some years. Take Care Love Yall

A part of my life i will never forget.
I was very impressed about your effort in providing inforation about the “ROSIE”. While stationed in the OE Div. as an ETR, I got to see alot of the ship and now wish I had taken more photos. Seems like I the 3 1/2 yrs. I was on her ( Apr. 74 -Aug. 77 ) was a lifetime then, but boy do i still remember those days and nights at sea. Last Summer my girl friend and I got to visit the USS YORKTOWN. I really wished the whole time we were there that it was the “ROSIE”. Good luck in your ongoing efforts. Keep up the good work!
