HAVE YOU CHECKED THE HOME PAGE FOR THE LATEST INFO?
I have managed to resurrect some of the Guest Books from the previous FDR Websites. There are some that are lost forever but this is the best there is at the moment. There is a lot of good stuff there.

SO
Please put your email address in your message so your shipmates can get back to you (if they can remember you).
There is software on board that makes it unreadable to the “bots” who collect that sort of stuff.
All entries must be approved before they will appear in the book. Any inappropriate entries, as well as those with invalid email addresses, will be deleted and will not appear. I check daily so don’t despair if your entry doesn’t appear immediately.
Due to a rash of automated spam messages we now use “captcha” authentication. Just enter the “captcha” code and then SUBMIT. Don’t worry about upper or lower case….either will work. If you have trouble reading it just click the little button to the right and it will “refresh”. Thanks!
Many shipmates have told me, via email, about having visited this site. Oddly many have not left entries here for their shipmates to see. THEY do wonder how you are and probably would love to hear from you. This is a great way get back in contact.
REMEMBER….THE ONLY WAY FOR YOUR SHIPMATES TO GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU IS HAVING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR MESSAGE
For YOUR protection – No home phone numbers or addresses please. Please save that for when you make email contact.
Looking for guys who would have served with my Dad, Llewellyn “Lou” Kopchak.
He’s not computer savy. In 59 and 60 he was a FN, 61 an MM3.
Was an ADJ with VA-176 from 1972-73. Had great times on the Rosie & a blast at all the ports we hit. I still have a cigarette lighter from the Rosie with her name & emblem on it. All I can say is I hope it never learns to talk! Thank you to ships company, for the rides & for making my 2 cruises on good ones!!!
I was aboard FDR from 71 to 73 in B Division. I worked in the forward evaporators. We made 10 month Med cruise after being extended. Hard to believe that was 40 years ago. It was certainly a different time in my life. I see names I recognize; Roach, Bumgardner, Visona, Cassick, Giradeau, Hammack, etc. Wow, what memories!
1st Division 63-64
Last cruise of the Rosie, with VA-215-1976-77. My first cruise as a Airman of my 20yrs in the navy & many cruise after this one but will always remember this one. I guess you always remember your first.

Any survivors of the chilly Willy A gang?
OI DIV 57 – 59 I went to a reunion last year and went on the USS Midway CVA 41 very impressive sitting there at the dock in San Diego, our sister ship. Talk about walking into the past, wow, much is restored but there is much to go, CIC was closed due to restoring, some hatches are welded shut but the mess decks were open and I did sit in the Captains seat on the Bridge. I wish I could have explored more but walking has become a chore.
With VF-84 on 71 & 72 Med Cruises

Med cruise 1972 attached to VF 84. Anyone in the airframes shop let me know.
Was onboard from 1976-1977 for the last cruise. Was an Airman but never made to the flight deck…..said I would get blown overboard due to my size. Ended up as a Dental Striker. I was the smallest sailor onboard.
I made the last cruise on FDR , assigned to V-1 division , I still have the silver decommissioning coin presented to me when I left the ship.
I was in 4th Division boat coxswain for #2 P boat
Hello to all my shipmates from 4th division during the 1969/1970 Med cruise. Happy boating!

I’m looking for any photos of my late father, Edward D Westfall. Many
