Horace, Video DVDs of the 57/58 and the 59 cruises are available for purchase on this website. No Cruise Books on CD yet.
Horace E. Thompson
I was in the re-commissioning crew in 1957. I would be interested in cds of cruise books for around the horn trip from Bremerton to May Port FL. and some of the med cruises in 57, 58, 59.

Robert, A plane captain was a member of a squadron and if a patch was available it would have been for the squadron. Those do show up from time to time on eBay. I have never seen a ship’s patch nor a roster from that first cruise.
Robert Lintz
My grandfather Robert N. Lintz was a plane captain on the shakedown cruise. I was wondering if there was a patch I could get to mark that cruise. I also wanted to find a crew roster.

The latest on the Cruise Books is that I’m currently working on the 1976-77 book. Slow going but it WILL get done. Then on to the 1965 book and then the older ones.
Donald Hoban
I guess the crew during 68-69 over-haul don’t count as crew. No names or roster. Still
have my orders saying I was there till I left for Corpsman “A” school May 1969.

Larry,
Would love to get my hands on a cruise book from the 1962-1963 Med cruise. I ordered one while on the cruise but my folks move and the book got lost in the mail.

Curt, There was a 73-74 cruise and a 75 cruise. CDs of both Cruise Books are available right here on the website.

Jim, Thank you for your kind words. At this time it looks like the order of battle on cruise books will be 1971, 1976-77 and 1965.

I’ll add it to the list of things to be done but can’t give you a completion estimate at this time. I’m currently 2/3 done with the Nam book.

Larry, thanks for the heads-up on the OPHIST. Got the information I needed to get my duplicate Shellback certificate made up. In fact, got the Order of the Spanish Main as well. Persian Excursion is next – once I get done paying for frames LOL! (but that is a different ship and a whole ‘nother story!)

Rick, I’m currently working on the 66-67 Nam Book and I’ll add 64 to the list. It’ll be a while tho as it takes me over a month to do one book.
