HAVE YOU CHECKED THE HOME PAGE FOR THE LATEST INFO?

I have managed to resurrect some of the Guest Books from the previous FDR Websites. There are some that are lost forever but this is the best there is at the moment. There is a lot of good stuff there.

Click on the year you want to view. Click on the left arrow at the top of your browser to return to this page.

SO

Please put your email address in your message so your shipmates can get back to you (if they can remember you).

There is software on board that makes it unreadable to the “bots” who collect that sort of stuff.

All entries must be approved before they will appear in the book. Any inappropriate entries, as well as those with invalid email addresses, will be deleted and will not appear. I check daily so don’t despair if your entry doesn’t appear immediately.

Due to a rash of automated spam messages we now use “captcha” authentication.  Just enter the “captcha” code and then SUBMIT. Don’t worry about upper or lower case….either will work. If you have trouble reading it just click the little button to the right and it will “refresh”. Thanks!

Many shipmates have told me, via email, about having visited this site. Oddly many have not left entries here for their shipmates to see. THEY do wonder how you are and probably would love to hear from you. This is a great way get back in contact.

REMEMBER….THE ONLY  WAY FOR YOUR SHIPMATES TO GET IN CONTACT WITH YOU IS HAVING YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR MESSAGE

For YOUR protection – No home phone numbers or addresses please. Please save that for when you make email contact.

REMEMBER….IF YOU WANT TO BE CONTACTED MAKE SURE YOU PUT YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS IN THE BODY OF YOUR MESSAGE

I was on from 62 to Apr. 64. I was a FT3 at the time I was discharged. Loved the Med cruise and the trip to New York to get the flight deck repaired. Would love to find any of the other Fire Control group that are still around.

  2. AQF2 W. L. "Sam" Smothers

Served aboard the Rosie 70 & 71 med cruise w/VF-41. Lots of memories just came back to me today! Keep up the good work….

  3. Mitchell J. Roberson Jr.

  4. served on the rossie early 61 to mid 62 was in V-1 div. made the med cruise of 61 as an airman. still have my rossie cruise book.

  5. HM2 with VF-32 on FDR on Yankee Station 66-67. pardus42@wildblue.net Hoping to find photo of F4 Phantom II cat shot into sunset; I had Aid Station duty during such ops, and will never forget the lyrically powerful sight of the F4 burner cans cranking down on hellfire at full mil power. The sparks of burning blast deflector thrown up glaring against the setting sun. That vision I still carry in my mind’s eye can bring tears of pride/awe/(something) to my literal eyes when I remember it. I hate that I didn’t take more pictures while I was on the ship.

  6. I served on the Nam cruise in the CR division. Work under LTJG Crews. Mean tough
fellow that worked his self up from inlisted ranks. Good man.

  7. Was on board 72-73. Looking for an old friend who was onboard same time. Was also in boot together at Great Lakes Company 269. McPeak are you out there somewhere?

  8. Tim Somerville

Anyone out there remember me. I was a flight deck tow tractor driver 71 & 72 med cruises. Let me know

  9. Served aboard with VF-171 during a Med cruise 9/51 – 2/52 as an AT-2. Have broadside pic’s of CVB-41 and CVB-43 during my hitch. Looking for a good broadside of the FDR during that period. Not too many, I guess because nobody was allowed to use a camera during the Korea “affair”.
