Cruise Videos

TO ALL WHO SAILED ABOARD THE ROSIE

Shipmates,

As many of you already know, since the start of the Film to Video project in 2008, I’ve managed to complete 9 Cruise Videos. There are a few others almost done but unless more shipmates (and squadron guys) are willing to make the effort to dig out the film they took (I know it’s out there) and let me know about it, many of the unfinished videos will never see the light of day. Over 50 shipmates so far have contributed film which has been converted to digital and WAY too much of it still sits in my computer as bits and pieces of videos. I hope that everyone realizes that without these completed videos, that part of your history and your memories will be lost to future generations. I find it difficult to beg like this to help my shipmates preserve a part of their Navy history but I am not going to let it go. IT MUST BE PRESERVED! Even if you don’t have any film yourself, try to remember who had a movie camera and let’s let them know about this project. I will be glad to assist in locating those shipmates…just get in contact with me ….please! It would be shameful to lose this history while it is still salvageable.

Anyone who knows of any film from the following Med. cruises: 67-68, 70, 71, 72, 75 and Rosie’s final cruise 76-77 PLEASE email me.  All the other years have been completed and the videos are available.

Remember that all film contributors get their film converted to digital at no cost, a free DVD of their film as well as a free copy of the final cruise video. Clips of the completed videos are shown at the reunions and may be viewed on this site as well as on www.usnavyphotos.com.

I can be contacted by email at larryb442@verizon.net .

Fair winds and following seas,

Larry

The following information is needed to help  finish the 1971 Cruise Video. In which ports did the following take place?   1. “Steak Day”.  2. “Swim Call”. If ANYONE that was the on the ‘71 cruise remembers please contact me.  I’m thinking Palma at the end of the cruise but I wasn’t there and I’d like to put the scenes in the correct place.
